Monday Happenings
Jazzy Movies
Avant garde filmmaker Robert Fenz and free music composer and multi-instrumentalist Wadada Leo Smith team up tonight at the Harvard Film Archive to "create a 'space' that grows out of the combination of disciplines, with neither sound nor image subjugated." Fenz screens his film Meditations on Revolution and Smith provides live improvisational accompaniment. Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St., Cambridge, 7:00pm. $10. (RS)
Bored on President's Day? Get in touch with your childhood. The Brattle Theatre has been running a tribute to Bugs Bunny, that wascally wabbit, and they are also honoring the 100th birthday of grand cartoon voice Mel Blanc with "Looney Centennials!" Check the Brattle Theatre's website for showtimes.
Music
--Darkbuster's Hometown Throwup continues with The Welch Boys and The Outsiders. Bostonist has the scoop about all the bands playing this week's Throwup. Harper's Ferry, 9:00 pm, $10.
--Bostonist tends to be suspicious of bands that throw a gratuitous "The" before their singular names. But we'll forgive arch, feud-prone rockers The Bravery. The show is sold out, so do what you must. They'll also play tomorrow. The Paradise, doors 7:00, $16.50.
Rick Sawyer contributed to this post. Still from Meditations on Revolution from the Harvard Film Archive.
The listed events were chosen by the editors of Bostonist and brought to you by the 2009 Toyota Corolla.
