This Bostonist finally got around to seeing There Will Be Blood last night, so we're prepared to concede that the West can be a harsh and pitiless place. Until this week, the West had been very good to the Celtics.
But now they're drinkin' our milkshake! The reeling C's have matched their longest losing streak of the year (two) after Baron Davis broke our hearts with a game-winning shot for the last of his 29 points. The Celtics played fine - 32 for Ray, a 17/15 for Kevin Garnett - but the Warriors played a little better. It won't get easier, as the Celtics get their first crack at Shaq and the Suns (he's finally conquered his fear) on Friday. Happily for the Celtics, Detroit's lost two in a row as well, so the C's' lead in the East hasn't changed.
The big news in Florida is, of course, is the full Red Sox roster reporting to camp. David Ortiz is there, with a new hairdo that makes him look more like Esther Rolle than ever. Manny showed up (on time!), dressed for a Jimmy Buffett concert. Coco Crisp is in town, but he sort of wants to be traded. We frankly forgot that he hadn't been traded already. Sean "The Mayor" Casey is here. Daisuke Matsuzaka is apparently working on a new Gyroball. Everyone's happy in Fort Myers.
Everyone's excited in Japan, where tickets for the Sox/A's opening games have sold out. Which makes two continents we can't get tickets on.
