The Fenway Park Concert is...? Or isn't...?

...Bon Jovi: "Wanted Dead or Alive" (or cash or check...)

In a Billboard interview this week, '80s hair-metal holdover Jon Bon Jovi says in regards to his summer tour plans,

I've got two choices. We've got the Giants, Soldiers, Fenways [sic] (stadiums) on hold or we stay in Europe because of the state of the economy. All these (arena) shows are sold out, but the July dates, I'm not sure where the economy's going to be, so I don't know yet.

Yeah, Bostonist wouldn't want the sagging dollar-euro exchange rate to harsh the vibe of your tour finale! (Did you really say Fenways, Jon???") If you're worried that you can't get 35,000(or so) Bostonians to fork over the benjamins to hear Living on a Prayer again, then you could always play at one of the other "stadiums" -- or do a free show at Government Center...

Will Bon Jovi eventually say, "It's great to be here at Fenway Park!" (and not mean it)? How long is Jersey Boy going to keep us waiting? Should we throw in some whitening toothpaste to sweeten the deal?

Bostonist contacted Fenway concert promoter LiveNation and Island Records; both refused to comment on Bon Jovi's statement and the possibility of other artists that might rock center field in July. Keep your fingers crossed for Radiohead...
