Sports Redux: A Man Named Boras
Let's take a trip out to Phoenix, shall we? The Celtics for once found themselves n the other side of the equation, as the team trying to cool an ongoing Suns hot streak. Turns out that the Celts don't well handle such a situation, losing 85-77 to Shaq and his crew. The quick breakdown of dubious distinctions from the game? Lowest Boston total of the season, first third-straight loss of the season, really lousy ball play from the Boston green.
Back on the East Coast, Red Sox fans learned Friday that their dreams of shaking off Scott Boras grew significantly dimmer; meanwhile, Theo Epstein moved Boras up a spot on his speed dial. Manny Ramierez ditched agent Greg Genske and joined the Boras Bunch, the now seven Red Sox players on the client list for the uber-agent.
What's this mean for the Sox? If they're going to want to keep Manny and fulfill his dreams (which we still can't quite believe) of remaining a Red Sox player for the rest of his career, the price just jumped even more than they'd anticipated.

Manny: always full of surprises. The Sox have options for 2009 and 2010. Boras gets paid from a new contract for Manny. He's eiher waiting three seasons or they got something planned after 2008. Boras doesn't seem like a waiting type.
Say Manny has a great year...does he hold-out for a new extended deal? He is 36 in May. How long is he going to play?
Boston should go year to year with Manny.
