Sunday Happenings
Oscars
Hooray that the writers' strike is over, and we can see overmedicated stars and their pretty dresses walk the red carpet! Regarding the actual movie-picking, Reel Hub is a touch grouchy due to the shadiness of the Oscar voting process. If you'd like to watch the festivities with others, dress up for the Fafarazzi.com Oscar party at Lir, 903 Boylston, Boston, 5:00 pm.
The Boston Globe Travel Show is on at the Seaport World Trade Center. It's hard to know where to start--you can scour the joint looking for travel deals, you can gape at the indoor scuba pool (or try it yourself), or enter a limbo contest with the prize as a trip to Jamaica (2:30 pm). 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, $10.
Music
--In search of dark, cold sweetness? Check out Black Mountain and Bon Iver at the Middle East tonight. The lilting folk will be enough to drive you back into hibernation for another month (or two) until it gets warm. It's sold out, but maybe your best puppy-dog eyes can get you in?
--Darkbuster's Hometown Throwup continues with Stigma, Death & Taxes, Reason Enough. Harper's Ferry, 2:00 pm, $10. Unlike the rest of the Throwup, this show's all ages.
