While Starbucks Trains, Dunkies Cuts Prices

Be warned, Starbucks addicts and people who like free bathrooms: The coffee shop will be closed tonight between 5:30 and 9:00 for an emergency training of its employees, or "baristas," as they are known.

In a city where the Starbucks vs. Dunkin' Donuts battle rages, Dunkin' Donuts is staking its claim by cutting prices on its small drinks to 99 cents until 10:00 pm, WBZ reports.

Dunkin' Donuts is declaring coffee war, and it's all about hearts and minds:

On Tuesday, February 26, Dunkin' Donuts wants to ensure that no coffee lover is denied a delicious espresso-based beverage. The world's largest coffee and baked goods chain will offer all customers a small latte, cappuccino or espresso drink of their choice, hot or iced, for the special price of 99 cents.

Whoever writes the PR releases needs to lay off a) the caffeine and b) the documents of the founding fathers. All that intro needed was the line "GIVE ME COFFEE OR GIVE ME DEATH!" People are not going to collapse into a puddle of goo if they can't drink their coffee. For caffeine, they can buy Mountain Dew at the convenience store instead.
