Local Gay Magazine Puts Belichick on the Cover
Bostonist never thought of Bill Belichick as cover material, unless one counts the awesomeness of the Sports Illustrated cover with Belichick as Santa. But a few gay males might get a surprise when they pick up the latest issue of Spirit Magazine, "Boston's Premier Magazine for the Gay and Lesbian Community." Because there's Bill Belichick's mug and hoodie alternative on the cover. Fabulous it is not.
First off, Belichick is a cougar-sexual. Second, "Belichick" and "sexual preference of any sort" don't fit that well together. Even if he is a cougar-sexual, we call him the "Sexy Beast" precisely because the title doesn't fit. (Exhibit A: The "active cut" hoodie.)
The Track Girls went nuts over the cover but pointed out that the article isn't about Belichick but just wonders about "the age-old question: If one of Boston’s professional athletes announced he was gay would his team and the fans rally around him?'"
Good question. But Belichick is on the cover because ... uh, well, he's not from New England, but wouldn't John Amaechi have been a better call?
Sadly, the cover isn't on the Spirit website, so we're going for the older "Sexy Beast" mashup.
