Representing on Reality TV: Kimberly First to Go on ANTM
America's Next Top Model: Quite a week for our locals! Alas, Massachusetts contestants seem to be following a trend. Like Mila from the last season, Kimberly, a bank teller from Worcester left in the first show. However, she volunteered to get out of the house. Some shocking information about Kimberly was revealed at the last possible minute--she thinks its silly for people to carry around a $700 handbag!
And she kept talking about it. And talking about it. So, smelling some fresh red meat, Tyra asked Kimberly if she wanted to go, and Kimberly up and quit. You'd think someone would have noticed her lack of interest in fancy clothes in casting.
Entertainment Weekly suggests the producers put Kimberly in precisely because she wasn't into fashion so they could see what happened and get a big exit out of her. They did decide "at the last minute" to let in one extra model, and they eliminated two in the first episode.
But we think we know the real reason Kimberly took off. She probably caught wind that the producers wanted to shave her head, cut it all off, or perform another ill-considered makeover on her. America's Next Top Model is notorious for making some contestants look worse after the makeover.
But, hey, it was fun, and we've still got Fatima. She hit someone in the face accidentally but never apologized, and she has a knack for starting fights. We're still not sure if Fatima is a raging bitch or not, but she sure is pretty.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: The team is in Maynard remodeling a home so a man will have enough room to maneuver his wheelchair. That's a good cause. But the Herald points out that the contractors working on the home have a past record of alleged fraud. If they are hucksters, at least they're doing the "Extreme Makeover" work for free so they can't make any money off it.
And, the Giunta family is still getting a revamped home, and the shady contractors are only two of 3,000 volunteers who helped fix the house. The house was unveiled on Friday, and the Globe reports that schools closed early so kids could see it, and the crowd got so big that police departments from other towns had to help with traffic. Now, Paul Giunta will be able to get around the house, and the show will air in May.
Biggest Loser: Mark Kruger, of Dartmouth, was eliminated this week. However, his brother, Jay, remains on the show and is still losing the pounds. The good news is that, even though Mark got kicked off, he still has a shot at winning some money if he can keep up his weight-loss routine at home.
