Music and Cryptozoology
A set of local organizations--Cloud City (aka Ben Sisto), The Footlight Club, and the Milky Way--are throwing a fund-raiser for 826 Boston. In a match made in heaven, the bookish Harry & the Potters will be the main event, and the openers will be Pants Yell! If you're nice, Bigfoot might show up in the shadows. Be observant. The Footlight Club, 7A Eliot Street, Jamaica Plain, 5:30 doors, 6:30 show, $12. All proceeds will go to getting 826 Boston a P.A. system.
Local comics are gathering at the Brattle Theatre for the appropriately named "Warming Up the Crowd," which will raise money for families looking for help paying home heating bills. Several members of this motley crew, including Shane Mauss, Erin Judge, and Myq Kaplan (whom Bostonist last saw opening for Kathleen Madigan), kept us in stitches at the Boston Comedy Festival. And we hear that a special guest might show up ... wonder who it could be? 5:00 pm, $15.
Music
Ska must keep you young, because the English Beat got started in 1978, and Dave Wakeling is still going. Somerville Theatre, 8:00 pm, $22/$24.
