Adults Launch Brawl at West Roxbury High

030508-west-roxbury-high.gifWhat's going on here? Not only are students afraid to ride the bus to school, but they also might be afraid to eat lunch.

On February 27, four adults--the father of a student, two uncles, and a woman--went into the Urban Science Academy of West Roxbury High and beat on a kid who allegedly attacked the father's son. From the Herald:

The adults surrounded the victim, who was repeatedly punched by the student. “The adult woman also aimed a kick at the student,” said Kenneally.

School cops broke up the melee and called Boston police to arrest the adults, as they lack the authority to detain adults, police said.

But the gang climbed into a car and fled the scene, striking a school cop who tried to prevent their escape. He was “brushed” by the vehicle and was taken to Faulkner Hospital for “evaluation,” Kenneally said.

Role models, indeed. Someone has a lot of growing up to do.

This news appeared on the same day the Globe did a piece on helping kids relax at school. Here's a thought--improve school security. Mayor Menino is already talking about it.
