Project Runway FINALE! Season 4 elects a winner in episode 14!

Project Runway FinaleRami, Christian, and Jillian are all designer--and now household--names. But which one will prevail in this week's Project Runway fashion finale? Who will special guest judge Posh Spice deem most worthy of her fashion favor? Will knits prevail over feathers? Intricate weaving over knits? Floppy hats over Grecian dresses? Read on after the jump to find out!

Tim Gunn comes to inspect the looks. He loves Rami's antique lace shirt. He notes that Christian is more nervous than his confident self has ever been before. Everyone's checking out everyone else's stuff, and Christian says the other collections are innovative enough to "mess with his head"--not to mention his assumption that he'll win! The designers have to cast models, something not all of them have done before. Jillian laments her inability to make a quick decision and stick with it--and sure enough, the day before the show, Jillian doubts the models she's chosen so much that she calls the casting director to see if she can make a switch. Too late, he says, so she's stuck with what she's got.

JillianTim announces that the show order will be Jillian, Rami, then Christian. Are they saving the best for last? Tim is proud of all the contestants, and says this season has had the most consistent fashion of all the season. We tend to agree--the serious disasters have been few and far between. The casting must have been more portfolio-based than personality-based this time around!

Backstage at the fashion show is hectic, with assistants helping the contestants sew up costumes, get the girls dressed, and put on final touches. Rami comes off as the most professional and experienced of the three, which he probably is. Two of Christian's models come to the show super late, which has him on the verge of tears. When the final girl shows up at last, he's so elated he doesn't have time to be mad.

Seeing her models lined up, Jillian thinks "I did it!" It's sweet to see the contestants excited about their accomplishments. Rarely has there been a reality TV show season so villain-free!

Jillian's feminine collection has dark colors, ruffly coats, some equestrian influence, several knits, and lots and lots of black. Overall, it's wearable and attractive, with just enough dramatic looks to make it feel like a complete collection.

RamiRami says his collection "celebrates women"! So do we! His looks are a little more traditional than Jillian's. He starts out with two teal outfits--an overload on an iffy color? His gorgeous grey and black dress from the walk-off is next. Then he has an interesting (if slightly odd) blouse and high-waisted red pants, followed by some more red-pink and black looks. Then there's a very pretty brown and green braided-like corset with a flowy brown skirt--again, might've been more effective in a more appealing shade. A gorgeous gold off the shoulder dress--Grecian as sual. Lovely, flowy gold dress-very traditional. Ultimately, Rami had more knockout dresses in his collection, while Jillian had more wearable/practical looks.

But talk about knockout--Christian really went for broke with his collection. It features lots of structured jackets, frilly blouses, and floppy hats. He makes great use of a pretty, shiny black fabric and several other black items as well. One look has sheer sleeves; most looks have big big necks--big enough to almost obscure the models' faces! We like the drama, but wonder if it's too over the top. He brings the collection out of its black focus with a Victorian old-school red velvet jacket, then some fluffy/ruffled and feathery dresses in brown and tan. There's a definite vision in Christian's collection.

Padma finds Jillian's stuff sexy and wearable. Other audience members find Rami's collection successful. Where's the love for Christian? We'll have to check in with the judges to find out.

Jillian reiterates that she was inspired by art, in particular the Master of the Argonauts. "Feminine and modern," said Kors of hers collection, while Heidi praises the "New shapes and designs." Nina finds that there are "too many inspirations," making it look a little disjointed. Still, the knits are "spectacular." Kudos to Jillian for creating pieces we can wear in cold climates!

ChristianA "Hard and soft effect" is what Christian was going for in his collection, which definitely combined soft ruffles with harder, more structured edges. Posh Spice deems Christian's looks major--quite a compliment from Mrs. Beckham! Kors found the two-tone feathery dress at the end "spectacular," but the color black makes you lose the work. Nina agrees it might be a little monotonous. Heidi liked that it was a "statement." All in all, Christian's collection made Posh smile--not an easy feat.

Heidi appreciates Rami's innovative weaving techniques. Kors thinks that Rami used some "Brady bunch colors... not chic enough for the clothes." Posh finds Rami's collection "lovely" and liked the quality workmanship.

Now the contestants depart so the judges can say what they really think. They like the knits a lot, and think Jillian's clothes are something women will want to wear. Christian's drama is totally diggable, and his show was nicely paced. Posh gushes about the new, stylish nature of Christian's clothes, but Kors points out (accurately!) that not everyone can wear what Posh Spice wears. Who's it gonna be?!

Heidi sums up the contestants as follows:

Jillian - bold, beautiful, feminine
Rami - stunning
Christian - a showman who offered drama and creativity beyond his years

Jillian is out. Aww. She appreciates the experience. Christian wins and cries. Aww. This has been the sweetest season--we can't get over it. Posh Spice would be "hono(u)red" to wear any piece of Christian's clothing. Christian opines that people need to see "more of the fierceness" he's shown throughout the year.

We'll miss seeing these contestants' innovative looks and--more importantly--positive attitudes week after week. Sometimes it's sweeter to have contestants (and fashion) you can like than drama you can gossip about! Stay tuned to Bravo for the Top Chef premier next Wednesday--Padma's back in full force, with what looks to be a repeat of previous season casts (an Asian! a lesbian! a guy with funny hair!). We hope the food will be good. Also, Jessie Spano (who will never be Elizabeth Berkley to us) is hosting a dancing competition reality show starting in April. We're so excited--and we just can't hide it!
