After Calling Clinton a "Monster," Power Resigns As Obama Adviser

030708-samantha-power.jpgHarvard University Kennedy School of Government professor and Obama adviser Samantha Power, whose events have popped up on Bostonist many times and who has a rep as an extremely smart person, lost some brain cells and called Hillary Clinton a "monster" while a reporter's tape recorder was running. She didn't do Obama any favors.

Boston Daily quotes elements of the interview with a Scottish newspaper. The offending lines were mind-boggling:

"She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything," Power was quoted as saying.

"You just look at her and think, 'Ergh,'" Power also said.

She said it was off the record, but once she dipped her toe into the waters of journalism, the words were out, and she couldn't put them back in her mouth. Sadly, if we didn't know those words came out of the mouth of a Democrat, you'd think those words came from Rush Limbaugh.

Power has the right to say whatever she wants, but, since she's an Obama adviser, what she said didn't reflect well.

Make that an ex-Obama adviser. The Harvard Crimson reported this afternoon that she has resigned from the Obama campaign.
