Friday Happenings
Music
Hometown keytar heroes Freezepop have returned from touring the world (okay, Florida, and the Rust Belt) to once again rock Cambridge, with the help of the The Information, The Main Drag, and Michael Hensley. Middle East Downstairs, 8 pm, 18+, $14.
Beer
Harpoon will hold its St. Patrick's Festival at the brewery on 306 Northern Avenue. Wear galoshes because the floor may well be slick with beer. Harpoon Brewery, 5:30 to 11:00 pm, $15 plus cash bar. Also tomorrow between 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
The Boston Guerrilla Queers are taking one bar back at a time, and they've got their sights set on Faneuil Hall tonight. Loaded Gun explains that the event works like a flash mob, and you won't find out which bar gets "taken" until you sign up on the Boston Guerrilla Queers list. Unsuspecting straights hanging at their straight bar will discover that their place suddenly got a whole lot more rainbow. Head over to Boston Guerrilla Queers to learn more and to see Cher looking a lot like Patty Hearst.
Movies About Rock & Roll, High School
Legend has it that the cult picture Rock and Roll High School was originally supposed to be about disco. While we would have enjoyed watching Chic or Sylvester burn down a high school, we can't imagine them scarfing pizza quite like the Ramones. If you have not seen this movie, there is nothing you could possibly do tonight that would be more important. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle Street, Cambridge, 5:00pm, 7:15pm, 10pm. $9.50.
