It was a Friday night at the TDBN Garden, and there was much to celebrate. Not only did the Celts roll on to their seventh straight win with a 116-93 win over Chicago, but each of the starters found himself with double digit scoring by game's end. And things got sweeter when Boston's new guys made their first appearances in Celtics green. P.J. Brown earned multiple standing ovations when he checked into the game late in the third quarter. Sam Cassell participated in his first shootaround with the team, and he was immediately focused on making nice with Rajon Rondo. And now that things are looking pretty decent (ha!) for the Boston team, GM Danny Ainge is looking ahead and ensuring that the Celts live up to the hype in the future.
The Sox decided to go against the MLB grain on Friday, announcing both the death of the team's "Replay" season ticket resale program and the decision to endorse Ace Ticketing as the official ticket reseller. While the rest of MLB went with StubHub for its resale needs, the Sox decided to keep it local (Brookline) and go with Ace. What's this mean for fans? You're still going to pay an arm and a leg if you want to make that game, but at least you now know what website to check first.
Dan Shaughnessy's quick to play the doomsday card when it comes to the hometown baseball team, but we have to admit that we actually (gasp!) agree with the basic gist of his column today. Not that we don't think the Sox are in great shape (we do), not that we don't want them to win (duh), but this whole dynasty talk makes us nervous. We've spent too many Mays smiling and Septembers crying for this kind of talk - besides, anyone confused by our cautious nature needs only look back to early February in Arizona. AHEM.
