Google Street View Spots Shirtless City Councilor

030908-LaMattina.gifNow we completely understand the downside of Google Street View after discovering that City Councilor Sal LaMattina, aka "The Ice Cream Man," was immortalized on Google Street View taking out his garbage without a shirt on.

Dave Wedge at the Herald somehow came up with it. We're not sure if Wedge was hard up for a story and looked up all the addresses of the City Councilors on Google Street View, but he found something of note. Sort of. He writes that the scene is, "Hilarious, in an Orwellian-stalkerazzi kind of way."

"Stalkerazzi" is right. Half the humor is from LaMattina's casual attire, and the other half is from the fact that Wedge or someone at the Herald got the idea to do the story in the first place.

Does Google Street View at least change out its images occasionally? Because it's a little weird to see an obvious summertime shot in winter. But, even though we've had differences with LaMattina over the whole ice-cream-man business, at least he cleans his own garbage pails and looks as schleppy as the rest of us during weekend cleanup.

Image of LaMattina from his City Council page because, well, we wouldn't be happy if Google caught us that schleppy, either.

Would you like nighttime shots on google street view too? Do you realize how long it took to get the first set of images? You already complained that there are many parts of Boston that are not covered. Atlanta, St Louis, and Austin aren't covered at all...
Of course, they should "at least change out its images occasionally."
