Foster Stalker Threatens To Blow Up Airport

Jodie Foster has a loyal fan base and some of them can be a tad bit over zealous. An Massachusetts resident and alleged stalker of the actress mailed a letter threatening to blow up Van Nuys Airport .
Authorities say Michael Smegal, 42, of Holliston, sent hundreds of letters to various people in and around Los Angeles informing him of his plans to blow up the airport back in September. Federal agents did a search of Smegal’s parents house back in January, where he lives and found numerous letters not mailed that were similar to the one he had send to the Van Nuys Airport in December of 2007. In 2004 he started contacting the Oscan winning actress , sending her letters and packages. In 2005 after being contacted by the police, he agreed to stop writing Foster.
Smegal could face 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted, and according to the US Attorney General’s Office, Smegal is also not allowed to use the US Mail, internet, and phone and forbidden to contact Foster. This situation is something that Foster is all too familiar with. Back in 1981, John Hinckley shot President Ronald Reagan in an attempt to impress her.
All charges alleged until proven under law.
