Regarding the prestigemonkey's marvelously thoughtful commentary: It is a blessing to be exposed to "good and qualified editors" by someone who displays a mastery of the English language by dishing out gems like "stfu!" An editor makes decisions about what runs and what does not, and sometimes it is nice to know what went into said decisions. In the meantime, attentionmonkey, why not apply that definition of "good and qualified editors" to your own posts?

I agree with sloan ... so what if she posts a brief description (and it is brief) about why this particular photo--among the thousands online that reference Boston--made it on the site? She's not telling us why we should like it, only why she did. If her 15 words are ruining the image for you, how do you like the rest of your world in a vacuum?

A good and qualified editor steps out of the way and allows creative works to stand on their own. Heavy handed editors who interpose their own ramblings merely ruin good work.

She posted fifteen congratulatory words and then linked to more images... how is that pandering? Plus--as someone who knows less than nothing about photography--I like it when she points out things I might have missed in the shot.
