Boston Blotter: City Hall--Where Machetes Happen?

crime_scene_tape.jpg

--A man was attacked near City Hall by two suspects dressed in black and wielding a machete. Yes, a machete. At four in the afternoon. Police grabbed the two alleged perpetrators, and investigators at the scene reportedly said that this could have been the work of the infamous gang MS-13. [Boston Herald]

--A Lawrence teacher who took a first-grader by the collar and swung him into a door was found not guilty of "intentional assault and battery and assault and attery [sic, battery] with a dangerous weapon, which was the door." The man will however be forced to take anger management classes and be unable to teach in Massachusetts. [Boston Globe]

--Neil Entwistle, a Brit and former Hopkinton resident who has long been the suspect in the 2006 murders of his wife and child, should finally stand trial this summer. Lawyers met today to figure out scheduling, and the next hearing should be May 30th. [Boston Herald]

--Two members of the so-called "Big Head Boys" gang had their pleas for a new trial--based on their contention that they were not given proper access to witness statements--denied today. Ten years ago they were convicted for a 1991 attack in which the leader of the ""Intervale Street Posse" was killed, along with an innocent female bystander. [Boston Globe]

All charges alleged until proven under law.
