Boston Blotter: BPD Officer Arrested in Georgia

082007_BostonPD.jpgA BPD officer has found himself on the wrong side of the law after a St. Patrick's Day trip to Savannah, Georgia. The crime of which he is accused is especially unsavory: "Joyce forced his way into the home of two women and held them against their will. He physically restrained the women and pulled them out of their home, but took nothing. Officers patrolling the festival apprehended Joyce after he fled the scene and charged him with false imprisonment, simple battery, obstruction and criminal trespass."

The women were walking home from St. Patrick's day festivities on Friday night. Joyce tried to push himself into the home, and grabbed at the women. At one point he allegedly yelled, "I’m a cop! You need to come outside with me to talk!"

Joyce has been on the BPD for 11 years and is part of the drug unit. He is now on administrative leave.
