Monday Happenings

031708-detroit-7.jpgMusic
--Take a tour of Japan's rock music with Japan Nite. Bands include Scandal, Petty Booka, Ketchup Mania, Detroit 7, The Emeralds, and The Beaches. Out of all these, Bostonist is going with the badass, garagey, female-fronted Detroit 7. T.T. the Bear's.

--Church of Boston is using St. Patrick's Day as an excuse to throw a metal night. A Cold Reality, Southern Bastard Church, The Forlorn Hope, and Graveyard BBQ will perform. 9:00 pm, $10.

--The Dropkick Murphys move to the Paradise. Darkbuster and the Pinkerton Thugs open. 7:30 pm. Sold out, of course.

Movies
The Brattle's "Selected by ... Andrew Bujalski" series continues. While we were a little befuddled by the presence of Wild in the Streets in the lineup, we can heartily recommend the double feature of Wattstax and Dave Chappelle's Block Party, featuring some incredible performances, but the Central State University Marching Band of Ohio really owns our hearts. Wattstax is at 7:30, and Block Party is at 5:15 pm and 9:30 pm.

Sleep It Off
Are you at work? Seriously? How many of your coworkers are in the office right now? Even the courts are off today.
