Bostonist: Barking Crab Closed: Did politics play a role?

I, for one, liked the spot. Allbeit I only went a few times and it is close to my house. It was ridden with screaming kids which is usually a huge negative but it generally had a mellow 20-30 something crew also.I will never forget it being shut down in 2000 b/c, at the time, it was quite the talk. Im not suprised this happened but the circumstances around it are just so typical of this city. I wonder IF it will make a comeback THIS time

I'm no health inspector, but the Barking Crab has always made me nervous. Politically motivated or not, I'm not surprised at all by moldy draft beer lines, weakened pilings, loose sewage, or any other report. Seriously? It seems like you wouldn't even need to step foot in the place to correctly name any number of violations.

does ANYONE in the city of Boston believe anything George Regan says? Ever since he claimed "amnesia" prior to a federal grand jury appearance after "slipping on a wet City Hall floor", this slug has been insulting the rest of us. So he gets rich and we grin and say "please sir, may I have another"? Enough already.

After working in the buildings surrounding the Crab for years, I'm sure the problems it's having have less to do with politics, and more to do with the fact that it's a filthy dive...
