Massachusetts gets a taste of the Southern fried with the 2nd Annual Alt-Country Extravaganza. You can bring your PBR. The list of players tonight is long--The Patrons, Patrick Dunn, the Molenes, Bryan Pero and the Tired Horses, Dearborn Valley, Wheelers and Dealers, The Bean Pickers Union, and Rev. Bob and the Darkness, not to be confused with the irony-metal band with a similar name. Church, 7:00 pm, $10.
They Might Be Giants will perform tonight. You can thank them for providing Dunkin' Donuts with many nifty little jingles and distracting the donut chain from Rachael Ray. Elevator, escalator, rich multigrain bagels, yeah ... Somerville Theatre, 7:30 pm.
Zipcar is sponsoring another big event. This time, it's the "Down 2 Earth Sustainable Living Expo." Despite the lengthy name, the expo will offer plenty of ideas and inspiration for going green, or a little greener. Hynes Convention Center, through the 30th. Check the Down 2 Earth site for times and ticket prices.
