Books
-- Meg Wolitzer will read from her novel, The Ten Year Nap, about a group of women who choose family over career. Obviously, the subjects of whether or not to have kids, who takes care of the kids, which member of a relationship gives up the career for the kids, and if it's the right thing to do after people fought so hard for women's rights will stir up conversation. Porter Square Books, 25 White St., Cambridge, 7:00 pm. Free.
Circling the Block
-- Street sweeping resumes today in parts of Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville. Time to reintroduce your car to the opposite-side curb.

The Beehive opens a show of visually and conceptually aggressive art, featuring the work of more than 20 artists, including Rachel Perry Welty, Jeff Perrott, Owen Rundquist, Cyrille Conan, Kelly Sherman and Samantha Fields. Free-jazz trio The Sewer Rats (w/ pianist Leo Genovese) will perform, and performance artist Bryce Kaufmann is bound to do something weird like cover himself with shaving cream. "Refreshments" may be provided, but don't expect too much on April 1. The Beehive, 541 Tremont St., 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Free. (RV)
