*UPDATE* New Kids on the Block Annouce Comeback, World Says "We KNOW, Boys."
After months of "will they, won't they" rumors and days of "wow, they will" anticipation, the New Kids on the Block announced on the TODAY show this morning that they are officially reuniting. A new album and new tour are in the works, and the band's first live performance will take place on May 16, at New York's Rockefeller Plaza.
The local media has been abuzz with ideas about what this could mean for NKOTB's hometown. A tipster reports that New Kid Donnie Wahlberg appeared on KISS 108's "Matty in the Morning" program and revealed that the band will appear at this year's KISS Concert; the Herald's Inside Track gals report that folks in the know are playing coy about whether the band could perform at the Call It What You Want Garden* on New Year's Eve.
And yes, for those who are scratching their heads and doing the math, the men are still going as the New Kids on the Block, although Joey McIntyre seems awfully determined to start a grassroots campaign to refer to the band as "the Block." We say stick with what worked for you, Joey. And start brushing up on those dance sequences.
***UPDATE: Want to welcome the guys back? As posted on NKOTB.com:

*Ten points if you read that and followed up with "baby, girl I call it love."
