Sports Redux: Hawkgate, The Last Day It's Even Remotely Newsworthy

We were going to let yesterday's hawk incident go. We swear. Everyone's gotten their yuks in already, from the wildlife expert who commended the hawk for protecting the plate, to the clever fellow who said that they should release the hawk when Joba Chamberlain is in town. We would have been OK letting it go, except the girl who got attacked is named Alexa Rodriguez. She, we repeat, is fine, but she's glad her friends Derekine Jeter and Janey Damon skipped the trip. OK, we're done now.

Life just got simple for the Bruins. There are two games left, with four points on the table. Take three of them, and the playoffs are theirs. The quest continues tonight in Ottawa, where the Senators feel pretty good after whacking Toronto last night. The Globe has an interesting feature on Patrice Bergeron, cheap shots, and concussions.

UMass fell short in its NIT bid, losing 92-85 to Ohio State and having to settle for 67th best team in the country. At least, that's how we think it works.

Quick hits: the Revs got smoked 4-0 in Chicago; Bartolo Colon looked great in the PawSox season opener; the New York press is starting to think Isiah Thomas might get fired soon.
