Saturday Happenings

-- Riding the tide of the news that she has her own VH1 show, Margaret Cho will be at the Orpheum--and we'll have a review tomorrow. Wonder if she could get a "Flavor of Love" style show. Now that would be entertaining. Orpheum Theatre, 1 Hamilton Place, 7:30 pm. $28.50-$45.50 (CR)

-- And it's a night of top female comedians. 5 Funny Females returns to Jamaica Plain's Midway Cafe. This time, you'll see Susan Alexander, Erin Judge, Jessica Sutich, Esther Ku, Bethany Van Delft, and Chantal Carrere. Midway Cafe, 3496 Washington Street, $15. (CR)

African Music

-- Tufts hosts the Fifth Intercollegiate Festival of African Music and Arts. The event features free workshops and performances and a flea market. The day ends with the premiere performance of Dzidefo!, a new Agbadza work composed by Rebecca Sack and performed by the Tufts Corale and Kiniwe, the Tufts University African Music and Dance Ensemble. The Perry and Marty Granoff Center, Tufts University, 20 Talbot Ave., Medford. Full schedule here.

Minimalism

-- Tony Conrad is an icon of 60s and 70s minimalism, the New York violinist who taught John Cale to drone. He also made a clutch of classic 16mm art films. Two of them are screening at HFA tonight. Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St, Cambridge, 7pm. $15.

Hard Rockin'

-- The sublimely ridiculous Bang Camaro plays the grossly crass Hard Rock Cafe. Proceeds benefit Ernie Boch, Jr.'s Music Drives Us Foundation, a charity that brings music opportunities to underprivileged populations. Hard Rock Cafe, 22 Clinton St., 7:00pm. $20/$50.

Bargains

-- The Nave Gallery is having a benefit flea market. Find used clothes, books, CDs, records, and household items donated by Somervillians who love art. Clarendon Hill Presbyterian Church, 155 Powderhouse Blvd., Somerville, 10:00am-1:00pm.

Singing Along

-- If you've never sung a Michael Jackson song in an entire movie theater full of BU students, this is your lucky night. The Coolidge presents the Michael Jackson Sing-a-Long, hosted by Henri Mazza of Austin, TX's Alamo Drafthouse. Event includes dance lessons. Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard St., Brookline, midnight. $12.

Bad Movies

-- There may be little to redeem the Brattle's Schlock Around the Clock from an artistic standpoint, but without sleaze and cheese in the cinema, who would bother going in the first place? The very integrity of the art form requires that you see murdered Playmate Dorothy Stratten play a sex android in space. Bostonist has more coverage here. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St., Cambridge, 10:00pm -- 11:00am Sunday. $15/$20
