The world is filled with unfunny people. You live with them, work for them, you’re probably dating one. But it’s different when they’re sucking on a small scale. It’s when they suddenly get a wild hair up their ass and decide to take their act on the road with dreams in becoming the next Pryor. The sad thing is, it’s usually the people void of any talent that go further than the ones who do.
WBCN’s Toucher and Rich have been getting a lot of notoriety these last few weeks thanks to their The Unfunniest Comic Contest. What started off as an idea of something to do during March Madness has turned into a conversation piece on the nationally syndicated radio show Opie & Anthony and popped up on blogs such as Gawker and Fark .
The Sweet Sixteen consisted of everyone from Larry the Cable Guy to Wanda Sykes and for the last few weeks the pool has been cut down to the final two comedians, Dane Cook and Jimmy Fallon.
Which leads one to to wonder what's worse? To be an overacting joke stealing local boy or a overacting Yankee fan turned Sox fan who hasn't been relevant since he left SNL? They've both made awful movies, attempted to sing and force themselves into pop culture by using their girl appeal to get them behind the velvet rope. So who is going to take the crown? This Bostonist would tend to lean toward Dane Cook, not because she's a Jimmy Fallon fan. But because Fallon conned Mark Ronson into working with him on his 'Bathroom Wall' record, so he must not be that bad. Right?

I completely agree that Dane Cook is not funny! (I would vote for him to win)
I haven't seen a lot of his stuff, but I did just see him in Dan in Real Life. I was trying to figure out what it is about him that irks me so much, and I've decided its that his overall tone/attitude is that he thinks he is God's gift to mankind - it comes through in all his deliveries.
Give it a break, Dane! Why do you have so many fans?
TO- As long as bros exist, so will the popularity and fame of Dane Cook. Bros love Dane Cook almost as much as they love sweet 30 packs of Bud Light in aluminum bottles.

Did you even look at the bracket? Wanda Sykes was not in the sweet 16 nor does she belong anywhere near that sweet 16.
waitwhat - thanks for pointing that out. i got her confused with the list of crappy comedians that didn't make the cut. although, i don't know why she didn't. she's painful to watch.

Jimmy Fallon or Dane Cook? They're essentially the same, forgettable performer. But, I'll need someone to explain to me how Jay Leno or, even worse, Robin Williams even get considered to be on this list.
MJG, I would like a chance to explain. Leno, still does comedy and at one point, he was a good comedian. But now his work is bland and boring. I had to see him once and I had heard he was great and it was just a gigantic disapointment.

Wanda Sykes gets a pass because her early stuff was so, so funny. And her "Crank Yankers" bit about discovering a TURD. IN. HER. CAR. was a riot. I don't think either Cook or Fallon have ever achieved that kind of peak.
I think more than just a comment, you should respectfully correct your writing that Wanda Sykes was on the list of unfunny comics. You can of course have your opinion about her style of stand up but to not withdraw her name from your post or not noting the correction is quite disrespectful. Not only was she NOT included on the list she most certainly does NOT belong on that list. She's a 4-time Emmy winning (plus more nominations) comedy writer that has earned the respect. How many others on or off the list, have achieved that? Dane Cook on the other hand....is hands down the most UN-Funny individual of all time.
I'm sorry -- this whole contest is so dumb, along with those idiotic "Best of"/ "Worst of" lists you see on the cover of magazines every month. It's just soooo lazy. Is this the only way Toucher and Rich can increase their audience? Yikes.
