--In Waltham yesterday, a youth football and baseball coach was arraigned on child pornography charges. He has pled not guilty and says that he was surfing child pornography websites in an attempt to catch pedophiles. [Boston Herald, AP/Boston Globe]

--A BPD officer on a detail in Dorchester yesterday morning was a hero. He heard sounds of a fight in a nearby apartment building. He arrived just in time to prevent a domestic dispute from getting uglier. A man was arrested for hitting his girlfriend in the head with a telephone. According to police, when the man was arrested, he "slammed his head into a cruiser and tried to kick out its windows." [Boston Globe]

--An alert in Brighton: A group of "three or four black males age 16 to 20 years" may be targeting elderly people for muggings. [Brighton Centered]

--Speaking of alerts, at the South Bay Mall, a guy driving an unlicensed taxi was arrested for swiping money from a woman who was preparing to pay for a ride. What he forgot was that the BPD has a kiosk there, so they drove the victim around until she saw and identified the guy. [BPD News]

All charges alleged until proven under law.
