Does Fox Think We Give a Hidey-Ho About NASCAR?
Fox usually receives umbrage for its political coverage, but they made an absolutely insane, incomprehensible decision last night that has local bloggers up in arms. Last night, during the Red Sox-Yankees game, when Papelbon was against Cano, Fox 25 switched to NASCAR.
Any programmer worth his or her salt would have known that Red Sox vs. Yankees is kind of a big deal in these parts and that NASCAR is most definitely not a big deal. Not to say that people don't watch NASCAR in New England because they do, but the ratings are on the side of a Red Sox vs. Yankees battle. A commenter at b0st0n livejournal points out that it was Fox national, not Fox 25, that did it.
Butch Sterns with Fox 25 apologized on his blog (link via b0st0n livejournal) and wrote, "All I can tell you at this writing is that this was a FOX Network decision. We, locally at Fox 25 have no control over a decision like this. That doesn't mean I don't want to know what happened. I was watching the game and I was just as upset as you."
Posts involving the incident were understandably laced with expletives and references to the Heidi Game. But Universal Hub summed it up well: "Fox, you suck!"

Ok, it sucked, but within 30 seconds the Nascar guys said it was broadcasting on FX. Would have sucked if you didn't have cable though.
and it would take a egotistic Red Sox fan to think there is any intrest any where outside of New England for the sox or yankees.
