Method Madness

Until this week, Bostonist was unaware that eco-friendly Method cleaning products are the object of a cult-like devotion. Then we asked some friends whether it would be worth it to check out the deals at Method’s temporary store, located where Jasmine Sola Shoes used to be on Newbury Street. We haven’t heard anyone speak so rhapsodically about tub cleaner in, well, ever.
The selection is small, but the deal is good: buy any five products for $20 and get a free reusable tote bag (pictured), which sells for $15 on the company website. Plus you can get a sneak preview of the company’s new line of baby products, available for 3-for $20.
The light-but-sturdy bag is perfect for people like the Globe’s Beth Teitell who find it, like, wicked difficult to remember to bring their own bags to the grocery store. The tote can be stuffed into its own inner pocket and zipped, making it small enough to keep in your purse when it’s not transporting groceries or earth-friendly cleaning goop.
The store will be around until April 27, and if you’re looking for something they don’t have, like Method’s laundry products, the salespeople will gladly give you a coupon good for $1 off anywhere Method is regularly sold, including Target and Stop & Shop.
