Sports Redux: Game 7 Doesn’t Always Go Our Way

Since the Red Sox have had recent success in Game 7 situations, the Bruins were probably hoping that it would rub off on them, allowing them to shake off a history of constantly losing Game 7. Sorry, try again. Last night brought a close to the hockey season in Boston, when the Bruins lost to the Montreal Canadiens in a 5 – 0 shutout. Habs rookie goalie Casey Price won his second shutout of this series. Elder statesmen of the Bruins Glenn Murray was out most of the game due to getting slammed into the boards and suffering from an injury to his mid section.
The Bruins did better than most thought they were going to do this season, and Coach Claude Julien showed Boston that he knows what he’s doing. Is there a chance that this is the first step toward making Bostonians care about hockey?
On a happier note, the Red Sox swept the last place Texas Rangers with an 8–3 win yesterday. Which is same as saying Stephen Hawkings got beat up by Randy Couture at UFC 84. Former Red Sox prospect Kason Gabbard lasted 2 innings and ending his win streak in Fenway Park. Clay Buccholz faired a little bit better yesterday. Buccholz pitched 6 innings and recorded 6 strikeouts, walking 2. The Red Sox scored 5 runsin the 4th, and it went on from there. David Ortiz’s slump is all but a memory. Papi got two hits yesterday and knocked in 3 runs, while Julio Lugo went 4 for 4 during the Monday Matinee. Kevin Cash made a rare appearance yesterday when The Captain took the game off, suffering from flulike symptoms.
And for those of you who just climbed out from under a rock and are still wondering who won the Boston Marathon, you can go here for the results.
TONIGHT: The Red Sox send Beckett to the mount against the Angels and Jered Weaver. The Celtics are off until tomorrow night when they play Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks.
