The curse-carryin' shredded-up David Ortiz jersey that had the Yanks quaking in their cleats has officially sold on eBay--for $175,100. Over a million people checked out the auction while it was going on, but not all of us could afford the awesomely exorbitant pricing. The auction benefits the Jimmy Fund, which unveiled the Ortiz jersey last Thursday at the Dana-Farber's Jimmy Fund Red Sox Gallery. The jersey will be on display at The Sports Museum at TD Banknorth Garden until May 18, at which time the auction winner can take it home.
The winning bidder's handle is 2004carman, which raised some suspicions among the Bostonists. As one of us said, "If it's stupid Ernie Boch I'm going to punch a baby." Not the Dreamboat, please. Regardless of the auction winner's identity, she or he has also purchased other interesting items, including a Motley Crue leather jacket and--find of finds--a 1990 "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em" MC Hammer Tour Jacket. 2004carman is, apparently, 2 legit 2 quit.

I have a New Kids On The Block 'Hangin' Tough World Tour' jacket if carman is interested...I bet whoever made that baby punching comment is a Wanda Sykes fan.
Sure hope Kevin Meehan of Imperial Ford in Mendon gives good deals. He is no doubt writing off the 175K as part of the new building decoration expenses, so to some extent, we're ALL paying for the shirt.
I assumed it was Ernie, too. But I guess he has to keep his costs less so he can sell for less.
