Tuesday Happenings

Dancing Hipsters

-- Hearthrob, the weekly hipster dance night, hosts German techno flavor-of-the-month D.I.M. along with Matt Walsh from the U.K. and a dude named Thomas Van Party. The usual Beantown suspects will also be on hand. Middlesex Lounge, 315 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9:00pm. $10.

Movies

-- IFFBoston wraps up tonight with Werner Herzog's latest, Encounters at the End of the World. Herzog makes movies about the weird and the obsessed, and this documentary about scientists in Antarctica is no different. Expect man to battle nature and himself. Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard St., Brookline, 8:00pm.

-- Bostonist was geeked when the Brattle showed Last Year in Marienbad (1961) a couple months ago. The film may have aged poorly -- its power diminished by Calvin Klein's 1990s television ads -- but you can reevaluate it tonight for free. Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St., Cambridge, 7:00pm. Free.

Free Ice Cream

-- This is like Dunks' "Free Iced Coffee Day." It's one per customer per visit, so try to go to as many Ben & Jerry's locations as possible. The lines might be longer than usual, but a free scoop will improve your Tuesday by at least 50%. Participating stores include Harvard Sq., Newbury St., Prudential Center, Park Plaza, Natick, Salem, Western MA, and Cape Cod locations. Ben & Jerry's stores, nationwide. Free. (RV)
