Future MIT Whiz Stacks Cups Real Good
We didn't know there was a World Sport Stacking Association, but we've found out--thanks to Steve Purugganan, or "Speedy Stevie" as we've decided to call him. The Longmeadow resident is the new Cup Stacking World Champion, owing to his uncanny ability to put cups on top of one another with great alacrity.
There are several types of stacking, including 3-3-3 and 3-6-3, meaning you stack up pyramids of 3, 3, and 3 cups (so all your pyramids are the same size), or 3, 6, and 3 cups (so you have a bigger pyramid in the middle). There's also cycle stack, the hardest kind, which requires participants to stack 12 cups in 3-6-3, 6-6, and 1-10-1. If that's not enough stacking for you, the sport also features team relay stacking, which sees how fast teams of four can each complete a set of stacks. Purugganan won by completing a cycle stack in 6.21 seconds. His goal is to be the first stacker to complete a cycle in under 6 seconds.
The cup-stacking whiz kid declares himself "bigger than Madonna" following his championship win, and a newscaster goes head to head with Steve and embarrasses herself by completing one set of stacks to Steve's two. We'd laugh harder, but we don't think we could do much better.
If all the cups in your home are too breakable or sticky with beer to use for proper stacking, you can buy your own stacking gear, including a cute carrying bag to tote your cups around. We think it's only a matter of time until MIT offers a cup stacking scholarship. Parents, prepare your children to get a full ride with this instructional DVD.

Those cups have holes in them.
this kid is awesome!
(i hope he finds time for sexual relations before he's 40...)
