Sports Redux: Boston Blahs

wallyg.jpg
It was a bleak night for the teams from Boston. The Celtics lost again in Cleveland and the Sox lost in Minnesota.

Clay Buchholz gave up 7 runs in 4 1/3 innings last night, and that was enough to give the Twins a 7-3 edge over the Sox . Remember the good old days when he threw no-hitters and we had our panties in a bunch over the idea of trading him. *sigh* Manny Ramirez hit homerun #498, and hopefully he will reach the milestone of 500 homeruns home this weekend when the Brewers come to town and the beginning of interleague play.

Julian Tavarez, Manny’s former spokesman and sometimes pet, was released from the Sox in favor of Craig Hansen. This is Hansen’s final year of his contact and he’s showing potential that hasn’t been there in past seasons. Hansen pitched a scoreless inning last night and he could be the boost this bullpen needs desperately.

It wasn’t any better in Cleveland last night, although at first, it looked promising. Even though the Celtics hadn't led at the end of the first three quarters, they were still in the game. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter when the wheels fell off and the Cavs took the game, beating the Celtics 88-77 .

None of the new big three reached 20 points, while King James scored 21 last night. The Cavs outscored the Celtics 20-12 in the 4th and the C's looked like they just gave up. The fact that they have no playoff experience as a team is their biggest weakness. One would assume they would have used whatever got all those wins during the regular season to beat teams during the playoffs, but that hasn’t been the case. The C's can’t keep relying on wins at home to get them thru the playoffs. One at-home loss and it's see ya next year!

Without a doubt, game four featured the most ridiculous play call since, well, maybe ever. LeBron went Dr. J with an exclamation point dunk and the announcer said LeBron drove to the hoop ''with no regard for human life''. That might be too much hype for the over-hyped LeBron.
