The BPD's Biggest Bad Egg Goes to the Slammer
Bad, baaaad cop (yes, he was convicted) Robert Pulido was sentenced to 26 years in the pokey. Commissioner Ed Davis says in a statement, "Our department is comprised of officers who find Pulido’s actions despicable and the punishment fitting." Pulido's actions included getting caught by the FBI offering to protect a shipment of cocaine.
Pulido is so notorious that his name could be used as a slang phrase for a crooked cop. His antics even inspired one of the Herald's greatest salacious covers: "Sex, Drugs & BPD," which we are reprinting here for your amusement. The Herald loves it some Pulido, and O'Ryan Johnson dashed off a beautiful line summing up the former officer: "the erstwhile juiced-up, muscle-bound thug who boasted he would murder a Boston firefighter’s kids if their dad ratted him out."
And of course they mentioned the Boom Boom Room, where Pulido liked to spend his time. The Boom Boom Room was a den of iniquity for bad guys and bad officers, but it was also a combo sin palace and auto-body shop. Only in Boston can you get your car--and everything else--serviced.
