Are We Really Bad News?
The New York Post posits that "Beantown's bad news" for the New York Times Company. Apparently the Globe is bleeding money, with its ad revenue down 12% compared to the NYT's 0.7% drop. Help-wanted and auto ads in particular were down, with around 30% drops each. Apparently no one's hiring and no one's getting rid of cars despite those ginormous gas prices. Sigh. Times ads actually grew nearly 7% and circulation for the Times group was up 3.3%. So does this mean the NYT will drop the Globe? And what will that mean for Boston?
Fortunately, Boston.com has an ace up its internet sleeve. The site recently launched BoMoms.com (does that sound like a doomed cleaning product to anyone else? BoMom: for all your degreasing needs!), a website for--who else?--Boston moms. Designed by moms for moms, the site will have enough mom content to send the non-moms among us running back to Boston.com. (Tip of the Day: "infants are so portable"!) Will moms singlehandedly save the Globe? Stay tuned for the next fascinating installment in BoMoms.com and the Globe/NYT saga!
With a logo like that, how can you go wrong? Boston.com logo from, well, Boston.com.

boston.com has an "advisory panel" (fancy name for a survey) that ends today. Answer it and you might win some money...
Now I'm gonna pop a cork. Infants are so portable? Yes, the little critters are mere accessories that parents can drag into restaurants where they can get scared and cry at all the noise.
Perhaps that kind of thing is why people are fleeing the Globe.
