Thursday Happenings

Hip-hop
-- Slick Rick might be the best storytelling rapper ever to grab a mic. Rick the Ruler's recent INS troubles make it possible that any show he performs might be his last in the United States. He raps in front of a live band these days, and his flow is just as bananas as it has ever been. There's a good chance that a third of the crowd will know every word to "Ladidadi," so brush up. Harper's Ferry, 158 Brighton Ave., Allston, 8pm. $20.
Web Animation
-- The Webjam Animation festival assumes that people want to watch Web animations in a group, on a screen that's larger than 18 inches. We're not sure how these small format videos will look on the big screen, but, with certified hilarious contributors like 30 Second Bunny Theater, it has potential. Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard St., Brookline, 7:00pm. (Also screening Friday and Saturday.) $8.50.
Drag Bingo
-- The callers, not the players, get to switch up their attire at Drag Bingo, but you probably won't get kicked out if you follow suit. Drag Bingo is just like regular bingo except the dudes look like women. Featuring the Hat Sisters, Mizery, and Verna Turbulence. Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center, 85 W. Newton St., 7:00pm. $25.
The New Complexity
-- Brian Ferneyhough is a contemporary British composer whose influences range from Iannis Xenakis to British punk rock. He composes in the New Complexity tradition &mdash a return to the modernism of mid-century &mdash and the difficulty of his work means that it is not widely performed. This evening, catch two pieces for flute and one for chamber ensemble. John Knowles Paine Concert Hall, Harvard University, 61 Kirkland St., Cambridge, 5:00pm. Free.
Gospel Choirs
-- New England Conservatory's Millennium Gospel Choir, a supergroup drawn from more than 30 Boston area church choirs, presents Praise and Glory at the Strand, a performance sponsored by the City of Boston. It's a multi-ethnic celebration of vocal talent, community traditions, and, well, God. The Strand Theatre, 543 Columbia Rd., Dorchester, 7:00pm. Free.

Yo, Rick! It's "Lodi Dodi."
Nope. "Lodi Dodi" is the Snoop Dogg version.
