My guess would be that the State Police were telling Cracker to turn it down. There are strict decibel level restrictions on shows at the Hatch, which was part of the reason why the Green Day show got shut down years ago, causing a riot.

I heard from one of the people in the Mashpit that a Trooper got hit. Intentionally or by accident I really don't know. But ether way is plausible with the crowd surfing and beach balls flying anything could happen.
