Drag Racing Sends Woman to Hospital

053108-drag-racing.jpgOvernight in West Roxbury, some drag racers got out of control and hit a 45-year-old woman at a crosswalk on Hyde Park Avenue and Eldridge.

A 17-year-old was arrested, while the driver of a green Honda Accord or Civic is still at large. The victim sustained serious injuries and is in the hospital. WBZ reported she might lose a leg.

One woman in the neighborhood said that some drag racers in the area had taken down her fence in the past. The area is popular for drag racing because of the lack of stoplights, which means that a traffic light and a police officer or two might keep this from happening again.
