Pizza. The word alone can kick-start the salivary glands of most Americans, and we might remind you that vegans and vegetarians have pizza-craving taste buds too. Going veg doesn't mean that you have to give up the delicious foods you grew up with: enter T.J. Scallywaggle's Vegan House of Pizza in Allston. Touting itself as "comfort food for enlightened times," TJ's is a mainstay in the Boston veg community and the only completely vegan pizza restaurant in the Commonwealth. The extensive menu includes all-vegan pizzas, calzones, subs, salads, and sides. On the night Veggiest visited they were offering a Thai BBQ pizza that had "chicken," a soft "cheese," lots of veggies and mango. Very tasty.
TJ Scallywaggles also hosts "All You Can Eat" nights on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. For a flat fee of $9 you can try all different types of yummy vegan pizza while hanging with a fun crowd. Swing by TJ's next on June 10th to join in. TJ's also hosts music performances on Thursday nights; check out their MySpace for more info.
While Boston is still in need of more vegan restaurants, TJ Scallywaggle's thankfully provides a delicious haven for the hungry, thrifty, and socially conscious eaters of the city.

A few of us are definitely going in July. Not sure yet which night, maybe the 22nd. We're following it up with karaoke at Do-Re-Mi down the street from TJs. Keep an eye on the Events Calendar for an announcement!
