-- Calvin Carnes, the 21-year-old who has pleaded not guilty to charges that he murdered four friends in a shocking 2005 shooting spree, took the stand today in his own defense. In what amounts to a daring gambit, Carnes claimed that he was not present at the time of the killings and had only dropped by the Dorchester home on the night the shootings took place to sell his friends some pot.
