Boston Blotter: Stabbing in Brighton
-- Luis Marquez, a 26-year-old blind man from Brighton, pleaded not guilty today in the stabbing murder of a woman who was found dead in his apartment yesterday. The victim was 56 years old, and authorities have not revealed her identity or her relationship to Marquez. She was stabbed multiple times on her torso and head. Police say that Marquez, who reportedly suffers from psychological problems, admitted to the murder at the time of his arrest. [Globe]
-- 19-year-old Andrew Alves was arrested yesterday after allegedly punching out Ira Novoselksy, a Revere city councilor. Novoselsky, who has been hospitalized with a fractured skull, had been taking pictures of property along Beach Street as a part of an investigation into nighttime construction noise. Alves has pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault and battery on a person over 60. [Herald]
-- A 13-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the massive, 9 alarm fire that destroyed the historic Parsons paper mill in Holyoke. [Herald]
-- A 30-year-old Brockton woman was kidnapped by two men in a Brockton bar last Thursday afternoon. Her abductors took her on a day long joyride through Boston and Cambridge. [Cambridge Chronicle]
-- Somerville police have announced that they have a suspect in the November 9th shooting on Canal Lane. Howard "Ant" Anthony John, 24, of Brooklyn, NY, is said to have shot the 25-year-old Somerville victim in the jaw. [Somerville Journal]
