-- More details have emerged in Tuesday's stabbing death in Brighton. The victim, Terri Werner, was a 56-year-old art teacher at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown. The suspected murderer, Luis Marquez, was her student. According to authorities, Werner had paid a visit to Marquez, who was in psychological distress, when he unexpectedly turned on her. Werner died from multiple stab wounds to the head and body. [Globe]
-- Thieves managed to make off with a safe weighing half a ton in a daring heist of the Attleboro family jeweler E.A. Dion, Inc. The takings were worth an estimated $2 million, and it is the biggest loss the jeweler has ever suffered. Among the booty were Super Bowl rings made for the New York Giants. Though little is known about the burglary, it appears that the perpetrators descended from a hole in the roof. [Herald]
