Massachusetts Leads in Science and Technology

In addition to all those sports titles, and the multi-baby-making abilities we brought up yesterday, Massachusetts is a leader in another area: science and technology. We ranked number one (totally kicking California's ass) in the Milken Institute state science and technology index. The index was based in part on future expectations for achievement, which are high in Massachusetts due to the state's willingness to fund technological and scientific endeavors.

According to the survey, we are "in the best position to succeed in the technology-led information age." Take that, other 49 states! We achieved our stellar spot thanks to "established strength in world-class research institutions, cutting-edge firms and [an] ability to leverage these assets in attracting and retaining a skilled work force."
