Did you make it to the American Craft Beer Fest this weekend? If you did, you know it was fabulous (apart from the wet carpet, nasty port-a-potties, and drunk jerks with bluetooths); if you didn't, you're probably burning with envy. (Unless you're one of those odd types who claims not to like beer. Weirdos!) You missed this fest, but Beer Advocate has many more events coming up this summer and fall.
We had a chance to check out the festival, and we weren't disappointed. We were only able to visit about 20 of the 75 breweries in attendance, and even that was overwhelming. It's heartening that there are so many good breweries out there, yet saddening that the flavorless behemoths always come out on top. Some of our favorites from the festival included an organic maple oat ale from Peak Organic Brewing in Portland (Maine), a peach lager ("One Eared Monkey") from Paper City Brewing Company right here in Massachusetts (Holyoke, to be exact), and the Coney Island Albino Python from Schmalz Brewing in San Francisco. So we like fruity beers--we're okay with that.
Did you attend the festival? What were some of your favorite brews?

The One Eared Monkey was also one of my favorites that I tasted at the fest. Did you happen by the Cambridge Brewing Company booth? The L'amour Du jour is AMAZING.
Ithaca Brewing Co. had an apricot ale that had a feel of a buttery scone with jam on top. It sounds gross and girly, but it was truly delicious. Also, Allagash had a very nice Tripel Ale that was tasty. (9% alc by volume too!)
