Sports Redux: Paging Dr. Morgan
At the start of yesterday's game, Diamondbacks pitcher Dan Haren had an 0-3 record in Fenway Park. But you didn’t think the Sox would walk off the field last night with a win, did you? After a rain delay and another showing of ‘Blame It On The Rain’, the Sox lost 2-1.
Josh Beckett gave a business-as-usual performance, and, if it weren’t for the poor performances by the Sox' bats, he might have won this one. Beckett pitched 8 innings, gave up 5 hits, struck out 8 and walked 2. David Aardsma pitched the final inning, striking out 2 and giving up one hit. Boston’s lone RBI was courtesy of JD Drew.
Kevin Youkilis was taken out of the game before the fifth inning started. During warm-ups, a ball took a weird bounce and hit the first basemen under his right eye. Youkilis will have a CT scan today to make sure everything is OK; no word yet whether he’ll play in tonight’s game.
According to Dr. Craig Morgan, Curt Schilling’s surgery went well. Instead of going on and screaming, ''I TOLD YOU SO!" Dr. Morgan said that Schilling's rotator cuff looked better than expected and that the ace could start a throwing program as soon as January if the healing process goes as planned. Good luck, Curt!
