Sports Redux: Everything is bigger in Texas

redsoxlogo.JPGLast week, Dice K came back from the DL and most people thought he should go back on it. But he did a little bit better last night against the Houston Astros, when the Red Sox won 6 -1. Matsuzaka threw for 5 innings, recording 2 hits, no runs, 3 walks and 4 strike outs. Not a bad way to start a 10 day road trip.

The bats were alive and kicking in the lone star state. JD Drew knocked in three runs with one swing of the bat. That home run had broken up the slump he was in the middle of. Dustin Pedroia knocked in one run and recorded another three-hit game. Coco Crisp played last night, giving Jacoby Ellsbury sometime off before Crisp starts to serve his five game suspension(Cut down from the original seven games.). Depending on how you look at it, Crisp will be still inactive when the Sox head into the Trop on Monday. We're sure it'll be a interesting series no matter what Papelbon recorded his 24 save of the season last night.

A ghost from Red Sox past popped up in last night in NYC, Trot Nixon is now playing for the Mets and is participating in his first subway series. The one time fan favorite and staple on the dl, was brought to the injury prone Mets when he was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks. Former teammate Pedro Martinez has publicly praised Nixon in the press since his arrival and hopefully it’s a good match for both team and player.

Tonight, the Red Sox send Jon Lester to the mound against the Astros.
