When you score 10 runs in a game, you almost assume it’s in the bag and you’re already checking one off in the win column. Unfortunately, one should never assume anything in baseball. Last night, the Astros tied up the series and beat the Red Sox 11-10.
Jon Lester pitched for five innings and wasn’t a factor in the decision. Lester gave up 6 six runs and struck out 3. He also gave up 2 homeruns. The Astros pitching staff also had some difficulties last night, but it was local boy, Manny Delcarmen who blew the save and gave up three runs in the 8th. Mike Lowell pushed the team closer and brought them within one run in the 9th.
Mike Timlin pitched another 1-2-3 inning for the Paw Sox, look for him to join the big club soon. The Paw Sox are on top of the International League’s North Division. But it’s almost expected with a pitching staff featuring David Pauley, Charlie Zink and Clay Buchholz. Their offense isn’t too shabby either with Jed Lowrie, Jeff Bailey and Joe Thurston. Look for them to make an appearance come this September.
This afternoon, Beckett is given the ball and gets to throw against his hometown team.
