Independent Review Launched Into Celtics Fan Death

As a reaction to the latest blow to the BPD, police commissioner Ed Davis is calling for an independent review of the events that led to the death of Celtics fan David Woodman. Woodman, who had a heart condition, died when police arrested him the night the Celtics won the NBA Championship. Two of the officers involved in the arrest were disciplined in the past, one for domestic violence, and the other for "lack of judgment in dealing with a shooting suspect." Donald Stern, the man heading the investigation, is the same person who led the investigation of the death of Victoria Snelgrove during the 2004 Red Sox victory party. Wouldn't it be nice to have a sports-related victory celebration in which no one dies? All charges alleged until proven under law. [Boston Globe, WCVB]

Wrong person doing the wrong job. Donald Stern is a former US Attorney. This former ineffective law enforcement official and now for hire lawyer resume includes his long tenure in Boston. Two words describe his inability to conduct any so called independent investigation, recommend prosecution if needed, or other determinations. That is for all Stern did not do in prosecutions and investigations on the BIG DIG that went from $2.3Billion to the $16-20 Billion before the tragedy ends as the national monument to the largest public works project in history that was riddled with waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption.
